Lester Rentmeester served as a B-17 pilot with the 324th Bomb Squadron of the 91st Bomb Group, 8th Air Force during World War II. After the war, Lester served in the Air Force working in photo reconnaissance until retiring in 1972.

Joe Kittinger is best known for the high-altitude balloon flights and record-setting parachute jumps that he made while heading the U.S. Air Force's "Project Manhigh" and "Project Excelsior" in the 1950s and 1960s.
Timeless Voices - Harold Olsen
Harold Olsen (1921-2009) was a B-17 copilot with the 95th Bomb Group of the 8th Air Force during World War II. His plane was shot down on his very first mission, March 16, 1944, and Harold become a POW in Stalag Luft III for the duration of the war.

Scott Welch flew B-17s with the 527th Bomb Squadron of the 379th Bomb Group, 8th Air Force during WWII. He flew 32 combat missions in the European Theater of Operations and finished his overseas tour flying cargo and wounded troops on C-47s.

Thomas Griffin (1916-2013) was a B-25 navigator on the #9 plane of the Doolittle Raid attack on Japan in April 1942. After the raid he was assigned to B-26s with the 319th Bomb Group in N. Africa, where he was shot down and spent 22 months as a POW.
