Lawrence Alley was a USMC dive bomber pilot during World War II, but the war ended before he saw combat. Recalled to active duty during the Korean War, Lawrence flew 100 combat missions as an AD Skyraider pilot with Marine attack squadron VMA-121.

Don McKibben was one of the original cadre of pilots with the 352nd Fighter Group, 8th Air Force during World War II. He flew 80 combat missions with the 486th Fighter Squadron in P-47s and P-51s until September 1944.
