George Cowan (1922-2005) was a B-17 pilot with the 306th Bomb Group during WWII. After his plane was shot down on a mission, he spent the rest of the war as a POW in Germany. He later served as the first president of EAA Chapter 38 in Perry, GA.

NASA astronaut Dr. Jay Apt flew aboard four Space Shuttle missions during his career: STS-37 in 1991, STS-47 in 1992, STS-59 in 1994, and STS-79 in 1996. He logged 847 hours (35 days) in space, including 10 hours and 49 minutes on two spacewalks.

Brigadier General Dan Cherry served in the United States Air Force from 1959 to 1988. He flew two combat tours during the Vietnam War: the first in F-105s and the second in F-4s for a total of 285 combat missions. He is credited with one MiG-21.

Wilfred "Wil" Van Abel (1919-2002) was a P-47 Thunderbolt pilot with the 63rd Fighter Squadron of the 56th Fighter Group "Zemke's Wolfpack" during WWII. He was shot down September 2, 1943 and became a POW at Stalag Luft III for the rest of the war.

Cary W. Salter, Jr. (1921-2015) was a fighter pilot with the 353rd Fighter Squadron of the 354th Fighter Group, 9th Air Force during World War II. He flew eight combat missions in P-47s before completing another sixty in P-51 Mustangs.

William Grubb Smith (1923-2011) joined the Army Air Forces after the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor. Initially trained as a B-26 pilot, William transitioned into the P-47 and flew combat with the 57th Fighter Group, 12th Air Force in Italy.
